I'm a Rambling Woman... or I just have a LOT to tell you :)

I thought it would be very easy to make 'blogging' a regular part of my life... I'm learning it's not that easy.  But really I should have known because the rest of the things I enjoy to do don't always come easy!

This past weekend we had the opportunity to mark something off the bucket list... the Kentucky derby infield.  I must say it was an amazing weekend to spend with friends.. it was definitely not the weekend to 'relax' as we got together with friends to 'play college' as we call it.  Louisville is definitely a crazy place during Derby week.. we had a blast experiencing 4th Street on Friday night.. we even met Captain Morgan!  Perhaps spending an evening out until 3 am was not a great idea considering we would be spending Saturday in the infield... but at the time we were having a great time, without a care in the world... just like college :)

Playing College with Captain Morgan

The Kentucky Derby was definitely an experience, and we had a blast with great friends, but I honestly don't know if I would ever do the infield again!  It was INSANE!  Considering how much fun we had Friday night, Saturday morning I was hoping for a more 'low key' day... 'low key' and 'infield' do not go along!  It is a great place to people watch and see people behave in weird ways, but the claustrophobic side of me, was not a fan... especially as we were leaving the infield.  Do not fear, I DID SEE A HORSE!  Again.. it is something I can cross of the bucket list, but I might have to stick to Keeneland, or become rich and get tickets on Millionaire Row :)

The Crew Ready to Brave the Infield
.... a big shout out to the Russo family for driving us AND feeding us afterwards.  What amazing hospitality :)
Michael and I also got the chance to take our engagement pictures on Sunday!  We had a blast getting to know our wedding photographer, and Michael has been bugging me for years about getting some more 'professional' pictures taken... apparently my famous one arm shots are not 'professional' enough for him!  Rob Mould did a wonderful job, and I'm even more excited about our wedding pictures.. If you got a chance to see, he posted some on facebook, but you can also go to his website: http://www.robmouldphoto.com/, go to client login, and the password is Wisniewski2011.  Enjoy.. and let me know what you think!
Rob's Pictures are WAY better than this one-armed shot...

We also got the chance to go and finally view our (almost) finished reception site tonight!  Let me say.. AMAZING!  For those of you that don't know, we went out on a limb and booked our reception site for our wedding based on the fact that we liked the old, historical house, and the construction plans to add on..  I was blown away as to how the place has come together, and we were also able to find our cake as well (Martine's Pastries are sooo yummy)!  October 15th keeps getting closer and closer!

There will be a lot of dancing and a shaking on this dance floor...

You can't tell, but this is the lovely fountain!  Dad wants to know who is bring the soap?

So the purpose of this blog is really not to ramble as much as I have.. and this is just proof that I will need to post more often... but one final thing I wanted to share with my friends and family.  I was honored to be nominated as Teacher of the Year for Instructional Technology with my bestest work buddy (and some have jokingly called us the Olson Twins), Ashley Williams.  It is a great honor for both of us, and I could not be more pleased than to receive the award with her.  We've both had the honor of being SCMS Teacher of the Year (one in 2009 and one in 2010), and I'm excited to be able to go to the Awards Ceremony WITH her.  There are so many more teachers that deserve to be recognized, and I couldn't be more humbled by the experience... especially since overall it has been such a tough school year for us both!

Happy Valentine's Day

E very year on Valentine’s Day, I turn the volume all the way up and blare OutKast singing Happy Valentine’s Day. There’s a line I’ve always loved: “Every day is the 14th.” It’s bold. A little gritty. Not soft and pink and Hallmark.  And maybe that’s why it resonates with me. Because love — real love — isn’t just one day. It isn’t just flowers and dinner reservations and polished smiles for pictures. If it’s real, it’s daily. It’s ordinary. It’s choosing each other when no one is clapping. Yesterday morning I put on a shirt that simply said, “You matter.”  On the back it read, “Dear person behind me, the world is a better place with you in it.” I wore it to CJ’s basketball game, not thinking much of it. But somewhere between the squeak of sneakers and the echo of whistles, a woman I had never met tapped me on the shoulder and asked if she could hug me. A complete stranger, that the message resonated with. And it hit me — we are all walking around needing that message. We need ...

Returning After 14 Years-- 2025: A Year That Asked a Lot

It’s been 14 years since I last wrote here.  In that time, I stepped away from blogging, but I hadn't stopped writing.  I've captured life's moments on Facebook, in social media posts, and in the pages of my journal. Truth of the matter is, I function best when words are written.  A lot has happened in the time since I've written here — we’ve added two busy, fun kids to our family, lost our sweet Bo, welcomed a new dog, Bruno, navigated COVID, experienced family loss, and lived through all the messy, beautiful moments in between. Blogging may not be what it once was, but some things are still worth putting into words. This post is my reflection on 2025 — a year that stretched me, stripped things down to what was real, and reminded me of what truly matters. ⸻ 2025: A Year That Asked a Lot 2025 asked a lot of me. It stretched me in ways I didn’t see coming and stripped things down to what was real. This year wasn’t loud about its lessons—but it was relentless. Family ...

Moving On Up with the Help of a Fortune Cookie and Stanley Steamer

Wow, I need to blog more.  I need to take more time out to reflect on what's going on in my life, but Michael and I have had recent adventures that demand a little blog time.... We've been talking about getting the house on the market for awhile now, and we've finally had some things happen that have really helped us make a positive turn and get 'our butts in gear' (as my mom would say).  My fortune cookie from Chinese take-out has proven to bring us some good luck, and I hope it continues! Big Dreams!!!!  In the last week, we've met with a realtor and despite Michael's 'jump in' attitude, I had to 'put my foot down' and say, "Things have got to be done around this house before I let anyone take pictures!"  We've been working on small projects here and there, but last Wednesday we finally decided to take on some bigger projects.  Why we waited until the start of the school year? I'm not sure... nor do I ask questions a...
