Getting Older and New Shoes

Reflecting on the last week, I can sum it up with simply: getting older and new shoes. I know I've already told you this, but my mom has put it best when she said birthdays are just another day.. I'm learning the meaning of this as I get older, but I'm still finding little ways to celebrate.  This school year has been very busy, and I've picked up many side activities along the way, even with the craziness of life... I managed to spend the days close to my birthday with those I love and adore doing things that make me smile.  I scrapbooked, I needlepointed, I ate yummy food, I went shopping, I saw a beautiful couple get married, and gambled my money away at the casino.  Life was (and still is!) good. So what does this have to do with new shoes?  Well for those of you that know me, know I have LOTS of shoes... and what better way to spend a birthday than receiving not one, not two, but three pairs of new shoes!  A new pair of shoes for jazzercise, a new pair ...

The Importance of Time...

I'm always complaining about "there isn't enough time in the day to do all of this STUFF!"  In reality, it is very true, but tonight I had my monthly Alpha Delta Kappa (a local teacher sorority) meeting... I will admit that before going I thought to myself "there are a MILLION other things I could be doing."  I was still in that mood when I sat down at my table... Every meeting starts with a devotional, and I couldn't help but to take tonight's to heart and share it with my 1,000 of blog readers... (I dream BIG!). The devotional was about just that, TIME.  So often we complain about not having enough time in the day, and I was given a different way to look at it tonight (and I don't know how I have not heard this before!): Imagine that you had won the following prize in a contest: Each morning your bank would deposit $86,400 in your private account for your use. However, this prize has rules, just as any game has certain rules.   The fir...

I'm a Rambling Woman... or I just have a LOT to tell you :)

I thought it would be very easy to make 'blogging' a regular part of my life... I'm learning it's not that easy.  But really I should have known because the rest of the things I enjoy to do don't always come easy! This past weekend we had the opportunity to mark something off the bucket list... the Kentucky derby infield.  I must say it was an amazing weekend to spend with friends.. it was definitely not the weekend to 'relax' as we got together with friends to 'play college' as we call it.  Louisville is definitely a crazy place during Derby week.. we had a blast experiencing 4th Street on Friday night.. we even met Captain Morgan!  Perhaps spending an evening out until 3 am was not a great idea considering we would be spending Saturday in the infield... but at the time we were having a great time, without a care in the world... just like college :) Playing College with Captain Morgan The Kentucky Derby was definitely an experience, and we ...

I Wanna Be K8.... (I mean who doesn't ;-))

I need more days like this.. full of sunshine and good friends :) So I'm sitting here in front of the computer yet again, same reason as usual.. putting off school work (this has been a more common occurance this year, but we can save that for a completely different blog :-P).  Regardless, it was a typical Monday at school.. or maybe typical isn't quite the word.. I think my colleagues agree with me.. WORST Monday of the school year.  But again, I said I wasn't going to talk about that. Despite the negatives at work and my stressful Sunday, there are many positives in my life, and I'm continually trying to focus on these positives.  Three weeks later, I finally think I've overcome my sickness.. and I've been celebrating this by returning back to Jazzercise... it feels so good to get back to a work out routine, if only the rain could go away, then I could make a better effort at my run schedule.  It seems like everytime I say "ok kate, you are getting u...

Life Happens... with a little twist of Stress

I've been battling illness for the last month, so I couldn't be more happy to see the Month of May start!  For those I don't see of a regularly basis, I'll spare you the details of my illness.. but for the most part I've been plagued with a NASTY cough.  This has affected me greatly, as I have not had my normal routines.. I've slacked off at working out, and I've favored my couch and my bed a lot this month.  I woke up this morning feeling better (the cough is still there, but is sounding much better), and I could not help but ask myself, where did April go?  It flew by, was filled with birthdays, holidays, sickness, and test preparation at school... The main problem with my sickly tendencies this month is the fact that I've been completely out of routine, and I feel like I've been flying by the seat of my pants (which normally I do with much more grace).  So as I woke up this morning, I've decided April is behind me, and so starts a new month ...
